IT’S third time lucky for Black Swans Bluey and Rosie in Dawlish as their clutch of eggs begins to hatch.
The couple have endured bad luck over the winter with all previous eggs laid so far lost or washed away during heavy rain.
Now, it seems the latest nest of five eggs is starting to hatch today with their first offspring.
It had been feared the nest was in a precarious and vulnerable position on a strip of rubble and sediment.
But despite the touch and go start, the eggs have begun to hatch.
Bluey and Rosie are relatively inexperienced at breeding compared with the other established couple Bert and Kimba who are successfully rearing five growing cygnets.
