A 43-YEAR-OLD man drowned in a hot tub, a coroner has revealed.

Glasgow born Barry Allen was at a property in Bishopsteignton, when the incident happened in April, the inquest opening was told.

The married maintenance man was in the hot tub but his mother could not get him out.

The Exeter hearing heard she called the emergency services but despite paramedics giving him CPR Barry, who lived in Dawlish, could not be saved.

His cause of death was given as drowning but he also suffered with fatty alcohol liver disease.

The inquest was adjourned until a full hearing which will take place at a later date.
