DAWLISH Coastguard has issued a reminder about water safety following two recent incidents along the South Devon coast.

The team was called to Dawlish Warren just before 8pm on May 29 following reports of a person in difficulty in the water.

On arrival, the casualty had managed to get out safely.

Coastguard volunteers provided safety advice and information on symptoms to watch for in case water had been inhaled or swallowed.

On June 4, the team was tasked to assist two people cut off by the tide at Lympstone.

However, volunteers were stood down before arriving after the incident was resolved.

With summer now underway, the coastguard is urging people to swim at lifeguarded beaches, carry a means of communication and remember to ‘Float to Live’ if they get into difficulty in the water.
