TEIGNMOUTH AFC scored five goals away at Axminster Town as they won for the sixth time this season.
Whilst their South Devon rivals, Newton Abbot Spurs and Bovey Tracey AFC, both had their respective fixtures postponed due to the weather, Teignmouth made the trip to Tiger Way on Saturday, December 20.
Spurs were set to face St Day in the WCP League Cup and Bovey had a trip to Torrington AFC scheduled.
Back to Teignmouth and Leon Aggett scored twice for Liam Jones’ side with Sean Ayre, Harry Breslan and Zak Khadaroo all finding the back of the net as well.
Luca Staniforth struck the solitary goal for Axminster as they fell to a 5-1 defeat, making it 20 games and 20 losses for them in the South West Peninsula League.
Following this win, Teignmouth sit 13th in the table with 18 points and they are yet to draw a game.
Elsewhere in the division, Ilfracombe Town moved up to third with a 2-0 home win over Ilminster Town and Bridport FC have overtaken Bovey at the summit by beating Middlezoy Rovers 3-2 at the Ethan Berry Pavilion.
This doesn’t tell the full story though as Bovey now have three games in hand on Bridport and are just two points behind the Dorset side.
Meanwhile, Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police booked their spot in the quarter finals of the league cup, Ben Aldous and Danny Frankum scoring the goals in a 2-1 win.
They have been drawn at home against Elburton Villa or Cullompton Rangers in the next stage, whilst Teignmouth will visit Bude or Penzance, Bovey welcome Liskeard Athletic to the Western Counties Roofing Ground for a fascinating tie and Spurs or St. Day host Dobwalls or Callington. Games to be played on or before February 28.
Our local trio return to action on Boxing Day, Teignmouth taking on Spurs and Bovey crossing paths with Stoke in two intriguing derby games.
