IAN Clenahan and Newton 66 were unable to make it two trophies in a matter of days.

Plymouth-based Elburton Villa prevailed at the final stage of the George Belli Cup, winning by a 2-1 scoreline.

Foxhole was the venue for this must-see event and it has to be said that 66 fell in controversial circumstances, posting a video themselves on Facebook of a sure-fire penalty that wasn’t given.

Elburton Reserves scored twice in their semi-final victory over Chudleigh Athletic and that was the same this time around.

They have proven to be a bogey-side for 66 and the trend shows no signs of letting up for Clenahan and his coaching team.

There may well be a sombre mood amongst those associated with the club from Newton Abbot, but last week’s lifting of the Herald Cup represents a very strong season either way.
