A FREE boat is on offer to the first person to claim it.

Teignbridge Council has been trying to find the owner of a vessel currently at Boat Cove in Dawlish.

But it has gone unclaimed for several months and is now subject to a Section Notice for its removal.

But the council is giving, on a ‘first come first served’ basis the opportunity for someone to take ownership.

A spokesman for the council said: ‘A few weeks ago, we had great success in finding new homes for two old and disused boats.

‘We now have another opportunity for someone to take ownership of a vessel currently at Boat Cove, Dawlish.

‘This boat has been left unclaimed for several months and is now subject to a Section Notice.

‘It will be removed by us after the notice expires on Friday 7 November unless someone steps forward to take it.’

Anyone interested in collecting the boat can contact [email protected] to make arrangements.

The spokesman added: ‘Important, Teignbridge Council takes no responsibility for the seaworthiness or condition of the vessel.’
