ROYAL Navy veteran Richard Hayward has launched his latest Dawlish badge, this time to raise money following the Avian flu outbreak.

Funds from the sale of this new badge will go towards the Waterfowl Appeal, launched after up to 50 birds were humanely culled having tested positive for the deadly virus.

The badges, for a donation of £3 each, are available from Presents, Puzzles Sweet Shop and Home Kitchen on Beach Street.

The latest badge is the third Richard has made for wildlife in Dawlish bringing his total to 17 - 10 for the Poppy Appeal, two for Dawlish charity AIMS and one each for the Strand Centre and Dawlish Community Transport.

Richard said: ‘I would like to say a big thank you to the business in helping me to raise the funds.’

He has spent 10 years creating special Dawlish-themed badges, raising more than £23,000.
