A DAWLISH swimmer has been braving the chilly seas to raise money in December.
Jane Barclay’s 12 Dips of Christmas challenge has raised almost £250 so far for Prostate Cancer Research.
Jane, 70, moved to Dawlish last year and started taking swims in the sea.
She explained: ‘I began appreciating the joy of easy access to the sea.
‘Depending on tide and wind conditions, I swim from the two town beaches, Boat Cove, and Coryton Cove.
‘Sometimes I join one of the always-welcoming groups of swimmers, sometimes I swim on my own, depending on my mood and the time of day.
'Always, I find friendliness in the form of someone I ask to take a photo on my phone as evidence of my 'dip' for my FB page and for the Prostate Cancer Research page.
‘Sometimes that same person stays around, partly to enjoy taking more photos, and maybe too to keep an eye out for a lone woman swimming in December when more people than not are huddled in winter togs and waterproofs.’
