OLIVE is on the oche and she’s out for a bull.

Olive Grills, who just this week celebrated her 91st birthday, is quite possibly the oldest darts player in Teignbridge.

Whether this is indeed true or not is not known, least of all by Olive herself who contacted the Mid-Devon Advertiser in the hopes of finding out.

Olive, it can be said, found darts somewhat late in life, having picked up the sport at the age of 85.

Since then it has been a much loved pastime for Olive who, now 91 and living at Hometeign House in Newton Abbot, plays regularly with fellow residents, 12 in all, in the shared lounge.

Olive can also be found flinging arrows, guided by the flights, at the Buckland Community Centre.

The centre is hub for all types of social actvities: singing, bingo and of course - darts.

The question on Olive’s mind is this – Is she the oldest darts player in Teignbridge? Is there another, a more senior player who navigates the dartboard, who can, in actual fact, claim the title of oldest darts player in Teignbridge for themselves?

Olive would love to know and so we ask that you get in contact.
