A BUSY night for Ashburton firefighters saw them deal with a suspected car fire and motorbike accident.

On their Facebook page late last night, Sunday, they report: ‘Tonight along with our colleagues from Bovey Tracey Fire Station we attended a suspected car fire on the A38 near Bickington.

‘On arrival it was soon confirmed to be a blown coolant system.

‘On our way back to station we spotted a motorcycle on its side on the opposite carriageway, immediately turning round at the Ashburton junction.

‘We headed to their aid.

‘The motorcyclist was thankfully un-injured and once the police arrived and recovery was arranged we left the scene and returned to home station.’
