FIREFIGHTERS from Bovey Tracey were called into action this morning, Tuesday, December 9, to rescue people from a car stuck in flood water.

Crew from Bovey Tracey Fire Station were mobilised to the Teigngrace area shortly before 7am following reports two people were trapped in a car.

The driver and passenger were on the roof of the vehicle when the fire crew arrived at the scene.

Using wading poles and wading suits, the fire crew rescued the stranded motorists.

And once the driver and passenger were given life jackets and blankets, they were escorted out of the water to safety.

A spokesperson for the station said: ‘Our local area is feeling the effects of Storm Bram and danger to life warnings are still in place.

‘Check the Met Office for updates and do not risk travel unless absolutely necessary’.
