Buckfastleigh residents are ‘outraged’ because a lone archer has shot one of their beloved Muscovy ducks.

George was left with a 2ft arrow sticking out of his wing on the River Dart, near Buckfastleigh Railway Station, on Saturday morning. He is being closely monitored for signs of secondary infection.

Posters have gone up around the town appealing for information. And George’s plight has made ntional news.

Police said they received a report of a young man carrying a bow and a small dead duck around 7.30am on Saturday. And there have been reported sightings of his possible return.
