FIREFIGHTERS from Buckfastleigh were called to tackle a blaze in a touring caravan last night.

The crew responded to reports of a large fire in the Tigley area of Totnes at about 10.30pm yesterday which was possibly a touring caravan.

Fire crews from Buckfastleigh joined colleagues from Totnes at the scene where is was confirmed a caravan on private land was well alight.

Two hose reel jets were used to tackle the fire.

Steady progress was made as crews continued to damp it down using the jets.

The Buckfastleigh fire appliance was used to. shuttle water from nearby street hydrant.

The caravan was several damaged by the fire and crew were unable to determine how it started.
