CRAB catching is one of the most popular competitions at Teignmouth Regatta – and this year is no exception.
More than 80 youngsters took part on the sand and fish quays, which were a mass of colour with children jostling for the best spot.
William and Henry Annal and Sammy Mayhew caught an amazing 33 crabs. Desiree Ellis landed the heaviest – a 86g specimen.
The family quiz at the rugby club was also well supported with 14 teams taking up every available seat. The winners were the Randoms, with Tarts and Donuts runners-up, and Crackerjacks third.
The sandcastle competition and children's treasure hunt were postponed due to a heavy shower just before the start, but the pavement artist competition was held in the afternoon in glorious sunshine.
In the evening it was time for the adults to get involved with the family treasure hunt. A very soggy evening, but it did not stop The T T Team winning, with Mischievious Monkies second, and a close third for The Randoms.

The services triathlon saw the RNLI, RNLI Lifeguards, the fire & rescue service, HM Coastguards, police and life saving club battle against each other. There is always a twist with the event, and this year the teams had to carry a cake around every part of the course, and finish with it in one piece.
They started with a swim relay, followed by a kayak across the river to Salty, then a run across Salty, before kayaking back to the river beach for a the final leg, where they had to row a regatta dinghy with a cox up around the docks and back to place the cake at the finish. Some cakes were lost on the first swim leg. The winners were the coastguards.
Friday saw the ever popular build-n-race a raft. Twelve teams took part and it was all very serious this year with a Shaldon team determined to take the trophy.
All teams are given exactly the same materials to build a raft. they had to race around a buoy and back to the beach. There were four heats this year, with the winner of the heat going into the final.
In this year's final the teams had to take a pint with them on the raft which had to be held the whole time, so the team was effectively down to three makers and paddlers.
The winners were The Natives.
