THE RNLI has recognised two fantastic Teignmouth fundraisers – Kerry Good and James Langdell.
On a beautiful sunny day at Teignmouth on Sunday, Charlie Woolnough, Lifeboat Operations Manager at RNLI Teignmouth, presented Kerry Good with three awards to mark her staunch support of the RNLI.
Kerry has been an active and prolific RNLI Teignmouth fundraiser right from doing her first sponsored Boxing Day RNLI Walk in the Sea in 2007, and has carried on every year since.
She has raised well over £20,000 over the past 14 years and says she will be there again this Boxing Day!
The three awards were the cup for the ‘Most Money Raised by an Individual’ which she has won every year from 2007 to date; a beautiful engraved crystal glass vase awarded for outstanding fundraising success; and a framed letter signed by the RNLI chief executive Mark Dowie.
Kerry is a marvellous supporter not just of the RNLI, but many other charities in the area, regularly taking on challenges, in her words ‘to give something back’.
An RNLI spokeserson said: ‘Thank you so much Kerry, for your tremendous support.’
On the same day, James Langdell was presented with a framed picture of the RNLI Teignmouth’s Lifeboat ‘The Two Annes’ by crew member James Crawford.
James Langdell had raised £1,000 by doing multiple sponsored jumps off the Clipper Quay in Shaldon.
‘What a brilliant effort!
The Lifeboat Crew invited James onto the Lifeboat during crew changeover whilst training, as an additional thank you.
Wendy Richards Woods writes: ‘The RNLI Fundraising Team at Teignmouth is grateful to all our supporters who have come out in force this year, after a difficult 2020 and the first part of 2021.
‘We would like to express thanks to the Teign Shanty Festival organisers for giving us £750 as a share of the proceeds, and to all those who have come along to our recent events and given us donations in other ways.
‘Dart & Partners have organised a charity auction on November 26 with the proceeds coming to the RNLI.
‘We are holding our RNLI Christmas Fayre and Coffee Morning at the Teignmouth Methodist Hall on Saturday, November 20, and at the Strand Centre in Dawlish on Saturday, November 27; we will be at the Teignmouth Christmas Market in the Triangles on Saturday, December 4; our Christmas Carol Service at St Michael’s Church will be on Sunday, December 12, and our famous Boxing Day Walk in the Sea is back again this year.
‘Further details will be available shortly.
‘Without your support the Lifeboat, the Lifeboat Crew and the Lifeguards would not be able to carry on their lifesaving work.’
