A FLOOD alert has been issued for the River Teign area by the Environment Agency.
The alert means flooding is possible for the Rivers Teign, Bovey and Lemon and coastal streams from Babbacombe to Kenton
High river levels over the next two days may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible from this evening, Wednesday December 17.
Rain is forecast overnight tonight, Wednesday, and Thursday with rivers expected to respond from Wednesday evening.
Locations most affected will be low lying land and roads near rivers.
A spokesman for the Environment Agency said: ‘The main areas of concern are Newton Abbot, Kingsteignton, Teignmouth, Shaldon, Bovey Tracey, Kingskerswell, Dawlish and Dawlish Warren.
‘We are monitoring rainfall and river levels.
‘Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.’
