NEWTON Abbot RFC kickstarted the new season with two home wins and they are at Rackerhayes again on Saturday, September 27.

This time around though, they will be in cup action, taking on Okehampton.

Their meeting with the Okes is one of four Devon Intermediate Cup clashes scheduled for this weekend with Teignmouth also involved.

The Teigns, who battled hard last time out but ran out of time to come back against the 13 men of Ivybridge, are at home too.

Plymstock Oaks are their visitors and the other two ties see Kingsbridge welcome Paignton to High House and Barnstaple 2nd XV head for Cullompton.

Meanwhile, in the Devon Junior Cup, New Cross RFC will play their first game of 2025/26.

Exeter Saracens will be their opposition whereas Torquay, Exeter Athletic and North Tawton have been afforded a bye into the quarters.

In the footballing world, after FA Vase and St Luke’s Challenge Cup clashes, the normalcy of league fixtures are upon us once more.

Bovey Tracey AFC will surely be brimming with confidence when Okehampton Argyle arrive at Mill Marsh Park on Saturday. After all, the Moorlanders have scored 33 goals in eight games whereas Argyle have shipped 24 in 10.

Ben Gerring and co will know better than to take Oke lightly but anything other than a home win would be a shock.

Also searching for a home win is Connor Marshall, the Newton Abbot Spurs boss. Standing in between him and a seventh league victory of the season is the team in eighth, Ilminster Town.

Teignmouth AFC are away at Bishops Lydeard and a third win of the campaign would give them more breathing space from the bottom two sides, one of whom are their opponents.

Finally to the Western League, where Buckland Athletic have a fascinating matchup away at Bridgwater United.
