Teignbridge Trotters staged a hugely successful Haytor Heller and then turned out in force for the Chudleigh Carnival road race.

The Haytor Heller was staged for the 33rd time at a new time of 5.30pm on Saturday, July 21.

The weather conditions for the 229 competitors were favourable, with overcast conditions.

The race was off-road across rugged moorland, with steep ascents and descents all around the approximate six-mile course.

Race director Nigel Barnett, staged a hugely successful event, with lots of positive feedback from many of the competitors.

Thanks were offered to chief marshal Graydon Widdicombe and all his fellow marshals for the all their encouragement to each runner. Also thanks to every Trotter involved with the course set up, catering and the results processing.

The overall winner was Ceri Reece in a time of 41.07, runner-up Adam Holland in 41.54; first female was Mary Menon in 47.22.

Trotters’ finishing positions and times: Ninth Tim Pratt 45.08, 49th Duncan Knight 56.03, 55th Susanna Goffe 57.11, 65th Tom Besford 59.10, 82nd Craig Churchill 1.01.31, 97th Kim Knight 1.03.55, 106th Wendy Goldthorp 1.04.53, 109th Neil Skinner 1.05.36, 149th Max Conroy 1.10.46.

The ladies’ team finished in fourth position and the men’s team a respectable fifth.

On Friday, July 20, the Chudleigh Carnival Bishop Lacy road race took place, with a 5.6-mile challenging course confronted the 187 competitors.

Conditions were warm and humid.

The Trotters were out in force with a total of 41 entrants for what was a club championship race.

Race winner was Adam Holland in a time 29.56, second David Hampton in 31.44; first female was Elizabeth Dyson in 36.56

First Trotter home was Jamie Barnett 32.05 in fourth position.
