NEWTON Abbot Spurs fell to a 3-1 defeat at home to Cullompton Rangers on Saturday, November 8.
Lloyd White scored twice for Cully and their other goal came from Lewis Hill whilst Toby Pullman was on target for Spurs. A red card for Finn Pearse gave Spurs an uphill battle and they were unable to build on their win against Bridport FC the game prior.
To rub further salt into the wounds, Cullompton have replaced Spurs in third place in the SW Peninsula League as a result of this weekend’s clash.
Cully are ahead by one point but Spurs do have a game in hand to cash in, which could see them overturn this deficit.

Meanwhile, 5-1 win for Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police away at Middlezoy Rovers has moved them right onto the tail of Newton Spurs, sitting one point behind them with a game in hand.
Ben Aldous (2), Saul Vanes, Jesse Howe and former Buckland man Will Hughes found the net for a Stoke side who are on a roll- that is now 26 goals scored in their last five outings in all competitions.
Elsewhere in the Peninsula League, Torrington AFC and Honiton Town shared the spoils in an eight-goal thriller whilst Torridgeside AFC won 1-0 at Crediton United and Bishops Lydeard secured a first victory of the campaign, overcoming fellow-strugglers Axminster Town.
This weekend coming, Teignmouth AFC, who had no game on Saturday, travel to Torridgeside, but not before they host Stoke Gabriel tomorrow night. Spurs are at home to Bishops Lydeard and their rivals Bovey Tracey AFC host Crediton United.
