ALL three of the South West teams in the Peninsula League Premier East tasted success on Saturday, August 30.
Starting with Teignmouth AFC and they picked up where they left off the week prior, in the FA Vase, to earn a first league victory of the season.
They edged out Torrington AFC by a single goal to advance in the cup competition and now they’ve followed that up with a convincing home win over Axminster Town.
In just the second game back at their Coombe Valley base, Liam Jones’ men put four past stragglers Axminster and conceded just once, to put points on the board and boost their goal difference as well.
Stalwart Jo Sibal was named as man of the match as his side condemned the Tigers to a fifth successive defeat.
Over in Bovey Tracey, Torrington AFC were beaten for the second time this season by a South Devon team and the Moorlanders were truly rampant.
An unbeaten Bovey side hosted the leaders Torrington and put eight unanswered goals past them, including two hat-tricks!
It was a fast start at Mill Marsh Park with Stu Bowker and Jack Brimming both finding the back of the net within the first 10 minutes.
They would go on to score two more each and were joined on the scoresheet by Louie Roberts and Ollie Aplin in a one-sided affair that is a massive statement of intent.
Bridport FC also won so Bovey are a point off of the summit but with a game in hand.
Over to Newton Abbot Spurs and they backed up a midweek win over Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police with three more points.
Toby Pullman scored the only goal of the game for them away at Bishops Lydeard, Spurs moving into fourth as a result.
All three will be at home on Saturday 6, as Bovey face Middlezoy Rovers, Spurs welcome Axminster to The Rec and Teignmouth tackle Bridport.
