A YOUNG Kingsteignton woman suffered serious head injuries when her car smashed into a tree at Telegraph Hill at the weekend.

The casualty, in her 20s, was flown by Devon Air Ambulance to Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital.

A police spokesman said this morning (Monday) that the woman, who has not been named, remains in a ‘serious but stable condition.’

No other vehicles were involved in the accident which happened just before 8am on Saturday on the road connecting the top of Telegraph Hill with the A38 at Haldon, near Exeter Racecourse.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 101 as a matter of urgency. They confirmed the woman’s silver Vauxhall Corsa left the road and hit a tree.

The constabulary’s Exeter-based Serious Collision Investigation Unit is heading the inquiry.

Two fire crews also attended the incident to release the woman from the wreckage.
