IT was announced this morning on Nick Grimshaw’s BBC Radio 1 breakfast show that The 1975 and Jake Bugg will be joining acts including Coldplay and Ellie Goulding at this year’s Big Weekend at Powderham Castle.

The acts were in the studio when the announcement was made.

The two-day free event kicks off on Saturday, 28 May.

The 1975 said: ‘We’re really excited to be playing in Exeter for Radio 1’s Big Weekend, we loved playing Derry, Londonderry and Glasgow and are really pleased to be heading back for a third time.’

Acts which have already been announced to play at the event are Chase and Status, Bring Me The Horizon and Craig David.

The full line-up for the flagship music event will be revealed on Radio 1 over the coming months and ticketing details will be announced on 21 March.
