FIREFIGHTERS from Chagford were called into action yesterday (Wednesday, April 8) following reports of a tractor fire.
Alongside their colleagues from Okehampton, the crew were faced with a ‘well alight’ tractor upon arrival, with the fire affecting power cables above.
Crews extinguished the fire using: breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet.
A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘The tractor was totally destroyed by the fire.
‘National Grid attended to check the power lines.
‘The cause of the fire was accidental’.
Elsewhere, the crew at Chagford recently raised more than £1,000 for the Fire Fighters Charity following another successful car wash.
