A FUNERAL directors in Buckfastleigh is offering a new way to say goodbye to loved ones.
Grieving families will now be able to chose a different, non-traditional venue to hold funerals.
Co-op Funeralcare has started holding funeral services at Buckfastleigh Town Hall which offers a more personal alternative to traditional funeral venues.
Staff have already held the first service there.
The town hall building allows families and loved ones to have a more adaptable approach.
This could be arranging the room differently, choosing personal decorations, or incorporating music and photographs.
The new venue gives families even more choice over how funeral services are held, including the opportunity to move away from more traditional formats.
Tracy Dommett, Funeral Arranger at Co-op Funeralcare Buckfastleigh, said: ‘Every goodbye is personal and choice for individuals and families is paramount, so we’re pleased to be working with the Buckfastleigh Town Hall to offer another level of person-centred ceremonies to families.
‘Enabling our community to say goodbye in a way that feels entirely personal to them is always our main focus.
‘The new venue means some families may not need to travel far, and they can have the service exactly as they wish, from the layout of the room to the decorations.
‘We know funerals can be a difficult topic to discuss, but we also hope the move will make people feel more comfortable.’
The Co-op Funeralcare branch recently held its first service at the town hall, in the newly refurbished Huw Cox Room.
