Ten per cent tax hike "vital for town'

Teignmouth's council tax will rise by more than ten per cent but councillors insist the cash is vital to continue to improve the town.They point out the increase is less than many other communities in the area and claim the council is one of the best value-for-money authorities in Teignbridge.The 10.6 per cent hike was unanimously approved by the town council and will bring in an extra £26,000 a year – equivalent to another £3.65 a year on a Band D home.
