A FLOOD alert is in place across south Devon in anticipation of tomorrow’s high tide.
Strong onshore winds, along with a higher-than-normal water level, mean that there is a greater risk of flooding on Tuesday morning [April 17].
Exposed areas around Dawlish Warren, Dawlish and Teignmouth are set to be affected.
A Met Office spokesman said: ‘Flooding is possible over the high tide on Tuesday morning.
‘Strong force 6 southerly winds and offshore wave heights of 2m at Teignmouth are forecast to cause wave overtopping of sea defences and sea spray in exposed coastal locations.’
High tide at Teignmouth is at 8:30am, where the forecasted level is 2.27mAOD, 16cm higher than the astronomical tide level. Times of high tide will vary slightly along the coast.
People are being advised to avoid risk areas and take care when near to the coast. The Met Office are set to issue updates as and when they get them.
