IT’S the season of gongs being handed out, such as the Hollywood Oscars and the Grammys.
There was a huge dusting of glamour over the proceedings – posh frocks, fine wine and food, and cameras galore for the pouting celebs.
But there was a more down to earth award ceremony in Newton Abbot when the Teign Valley Pedal Bashers’ social cycling group dished out their trophies for good deeds – and disasters – over the past year.
The grub was not quite so fancy, but just as tasty in the upstairs room of the Jolly Farmer. Pints of ale ruled instead of the fizzy stuff, but everybody had just as much fun.
