VOLUNTEERS are being sought to join the board of trustees at the Mare and Foal Sanctuary.

Two vacancies have arisen at the popular charity which is looking for candidates to work in partnership with the existing board of eight.

Using skills and experience, the trustees provide leadership and direction to the running of the organisation which rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes horses in need.

It has recently expanded after securing the funds to build an onsite veterinary and welfare facility which opened in June.

Chairman of trustees Nigel Brown explained the role would be rewarding for the right person and clarifies the level of commitment involved.

He said: ‘Trustees have responsibility over the sanctuary’s direction and for ensuring the charity does what it was set up to do.

‘Our board members come from all walks of life and are united by their desire to make positive changes to horse welfare, so we are looking for people who share our passion to come and make a difference.

‘We are open to applications from people with experience in any industry that they feel they can use to help.

‘Enthusiasm, commitment and passion are just as important too.

‘Geographical location should be no issue in regards to suitability providing trustees are willing to travel to attend a monthly meeting which will be planned well in advance.

‘The only requirement is that you must be over 18 years of age.’
