VOLUNTEER lifeboat crews in Teignmouth were recently called into action after two paddleboarders got into difficulty off Long Quarry Point.

The alarm was raised just after 1pm on Thursday, June 25, when His Majesty’s Coastguard requested assistance.

The lifeboat launched quickly and made its way to the scene, where a nearby rigid inflatable boat (RIB) had already located the casualties.

Both paddleboarders were transferred to the lifeboat, where the crew provided casualty care before taking them ashore at Babbacombe.

The lifeboat returned to station at around 1.20pm.

A spokesperson for RNLI Teignmouth said: ‘A reminder to anyone heading out on the water: always check the weather and sea conditions, wear a suitable personal flotation device, and carry a means of calling for help’.
