NEARLY 200 pupils from primary schools across Devon attended the annual St Nicholas Day charity event organised by the Education Department at Buckfast Abbey.
The event, hosted by the abbey’s staff, featured a variety of craft workshops including wreath making, reindeer biscuit baking and honey pot decorating.
The children made two gifts – one to keep and the other to give away. They had also been sent a stocking to fill with small gifts such as paper and pencils which were presented to Ugandabox and sent to the Canaan School, Uganda. Students there are from very poor backgrounds and the school is only able to offer basic equipment.
The day’s activities finished with a celebration at the Abbey Church.
