ACROSS Teignbridge local groups are rallying to help their community through the times of the coronavirus pandemic.
In Teignmouth the Our Community Matters Team has been working hard putting together a list of Teignmouth shops with opening hours, phone numbers and ordering, collection and delivery details. You can view this list on the second picture with this article, only you'll need to open it in a new window to be able to read it properly.
A group spokesperson says: ‘We will keep it updated on our Facebook page so people can share it with neighbors without internet.’
‘Here’s the post we put up today:
Tom Dunne, one of the founders of Our Community Matters, has also been supporting the HITS foodbank by getting businesses which had to shut to donate fresh food to Melissa Middleton at the HITS collection point at Whistlestop Cafe so it can go straight to those in need in Teignmouth and the surrounding area, including old people’s homes.
Donations he collected this week:
Milk from Costa coffee
Findlay Brown’s: milk and bacon
Finn McCools: Fresh cod, Sack of potatoes and cut chips
Bronx Bar & Cue, Halulu bar, Teign Canteen: Fresh produce, meat and veg
Also organised by Tom, who is himself a retired registered nurse:
‘We have just had an amazing donation from Thunderflower Gin. They have donated gift bags to pass onto services that are supporting us all at this difficult time, to enjoy at the end of a working day.
‘We have decided to donate these to the Teignmouth Community Nurses who are continuing to visit vulnerable people in their homes every day. This brilliant donation should give us all a lift.
‘It is these things that show what a caring, strong, supportive community we have.’
