TRAD jazz band The Riviera Ramblers are playing their very first gig in Newton Abbot this Sunday, November 14.
The five piece band have played all over the South West and have been described as one of the best jazz bands in Devon.
Playing a mix of music from the great jazz and swing era of the 1920s to ’40s, they are sure to entertain at this first for Newton jazz fans.
The band has a free and easy ensemble sound, but it’s created with care and warmth as the musicians listen, relate and share fun with each other, and with their audiences.
John Shillito, the band’s leader, has been playing jazz and a bit of swing for more than 60 years, latterly in Devon but previously all over the country.
The Ramblers will be appearing at the Saracen’s Head in Fairfield Terrace on Sunday at 2pm.
Entrance is free.
