A NEW industrial estate could be coming to the outskirts of Ashburton as an application to develop a nearby field is submitted to planners.
25/00944/OUT is seeking outline permission for 11 industrial units on land off Pitley Road, which is currently used for grazing livestock.
Submitted by Ambrison Developments Limited, the application will provide ‘flexible spaces capable of meeting the diverse needs of small and medium-sized local enterprises looking for high-quality, affordable premises’, according to the design and access statement.

The units, 15 metres by 10 metres and two storey, will have an option for a mezzanine floor, but that will be subject to tenants’ operational requirements.
There will be a variety of tenures available, with some buildings being let and some sold to owner occupiers.
The proposed layout will provide 38 parking spaces, including seven disabled spaces.
All units will be provided with electrical car charging points, the Mid-Devon Advertiser understands.
The buildings, which will have an external bin storage and secure cycle storage, have been intentionally designed to reflect those on the existing development at Lornhaven Business Park.

The proposals would require Pitley Road to be improved and widened, but this will be subject to further detailed design.
The application is ‘a major investment in creating a range of flexible employment spaces’, the design and access statement says.
The statement adds that the development will create ‘direct and indirect employment opportunities’.
A determination deadline of July 31 has been given for Teignbridge District Council (TDC) to make a decision on the application.
To view the application, and the associated documents, visit TDC’s planning portal and enter ‘25/00944/OUT’ into the search-box.
