'Mr England' Pete Cross will play a major role when the rugby World Cup winning squad is reunited for the first time in ten years next week, writes John Ware.
The businessman and former Teignmouth RFC player has been asked by the rugby top brass to lead the team into a slap-up anniversary gala dinner.
He will also parade the veterans on to the Twickenham pitch when England take on Australia in a test match the next day.
Mr Cross, who has been the official England mascot for 14 years and is recognised in rugby circles around the world for his natty St George outfit and flag-waving, said he was surprised and honoured to be asked by the RFU top brass to take part.
