MOTORISTS in an around Newton Abbot are bracing themselves for nearly a year of disruptive roadworks on one of the busiest roads out of the town.

Highway headaches for most of 2020 await commuters and other travellers regularly using the A382 towards Stover.

But the grief expected from the start of the £13 million scheme next week doesn’t end there.

A hat-trick of carriageway congestion is completed with this week’s closure of Monks Way on the approach to Bovey Tracey till March 2020 and the continuing lane restrictions on re-surfaced sections of the A380 between Penn Inn and Ideford.

The biggest nuisance has been identified as the A382 road-widening project which is part of the so-called ‘Golden Thread’ link to open up traffic flow between Newton Abbot and the A38 Devon Expressway.

Works gets underway on Monday and is pencilled in for the next 43 weeks.
