A BUSINESS based in Newton Abbot that introduces the wonders of rock and roll to babies has been crowned the best children’s business in Devon.

Rhys Davies’ business, Baby Rockers, came out on top in the year’s Muddy Stiletto awards.

Baby Rockers, where toddlers have been tapping their tiny toes to the likes of AC/DC and Iron Maiden, won the ‘Best Children’s Business’ category for Devon.

Rhys will be off to Bovey Castle in the coming weeks for the award ceremony.

The teacher and Bootlegger’s Turn frontman said he was ‘really chuffed’ at having won.

And Rhys has set his sights on expanding his business off the back of the additional publicity generated from his Muddy Stiletto win.

‘It means that I can use it now to push the business forwards and reach out to other organisations, businesses, schools, nurseries and so on’ Rhys said.

‘It has been really helpful, the publicity has meant that I have been able to expand.

‘As of September, I will be expanding across South Devon.

‘I have already have requests to do sessions in Exeter, Dawlish, Exmouth and Paignton’ Rhys added.

At present, Rhys runs sessions from Seale Hayne, near Newton Abbot, with sessions consistently selling out.

And in the meantime, Rhys will be debuting Baby Rockers at festivals, first at Bristol Volksfest in June and then at Ippletipple in July.

An annual affair, the Muddy Stiletto Awards seek nominations for 21 lifestyle categories, including Best Hair Salon, Best Restaurant and Best Children’s Business.

Regional winners from every category will automatically go through to the national finals, so Rhys’ business will now be up against other regional winners from across the UK.
