A SECTION of the A382 near Moretonhampstead will close for seven weeks in the summer for crucial retaining wall repairs.

From 1 June 2026, the A382 from Pepperdon Hall Lane to Wray Barton will be temporarily closed for essential retaining wall repair and rebuilding works.

The closure is expected to last until July 17, though this date is not set in stone.

The closure is necessary due to the narrow carriageway width and the significant excavation works required, meaning a road closure is the only safe option.

Works also need to take place within the permitted in-water working window to protect wildlife and avoid fish spawning periods.

The signed diversion route will be via the A382, A30, M5, A38 and A382 (and vice versa).
