A FATHER of four who survived a heart attack on Teignmouth seafront has said a big thank you to the people who saved his life.

Kevin Beech, 66, was later told in hospital that he would not have pulled through if members of the Teignmouth Surf Lifesaving Club had not intervened when he collapsed on New Year's Day.

He said this week after his release from the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital: 'I will be contacting the club members when I am better to thank them personally. They all did a marvellous job.'

He added: 'I understand it was the first time they had dealt with a real-life incident like this. All I can say is that they passed the test. I'm living proof of that!'
