ARTIST Lucy Patrick is staging an exhibition to raise funds for the Disasters Emergency Committee to help those in crisis.

Lucy’s exhibition called In Wild Peace will be shown at the Central Cafe in Moretonhampstead from November 2 to 22.

Lucy has been a practicing artist since graduating with First Class Honours from Exeter College of Art and Design in 1995.

She is interested in producing experimental, playful works that engage with the theme of how humans interact with the natural environment.

She often produces pieces that are ephemeral or bio-degradable and which viewers can interact with.

She has won awards in and worked on many community-based projects and has a strong belief in the positive role that art can play in bonding people from all walks of life.

She said: ‘The people and environment around Moretonhampstead have provided me with the constant inspiration for my art practice over the last quarter of a century.

‘In Wild Peace, I am asking the question of how the urgent, large issue of peace may be achieved in our world by focussing on the small wild flowers that surround us.’

As each artwork is sold and removed, international quotes about peace are revealed, in the style of an Advent Calendar, creating a living and evolving artwork throughout the exhibition.

Purchased artworks will support the work of the Disasters Emergency Committee and help people in crisis.

Launch day for the exhibition, November 2, will also feature a hands-on family-friendly workshop.

Make and Take is for all ages, and especially children, and gives a chance to create individual seed balls from clay, earth and selected wild flower seeds to attract wildlife.

Visitors will also be able to design and decorate their own seed packet to take home.

All money from the £5 entry free for adults will go two the DEC.
