TEIGNMOUTH will receive its fair share of the expected £10 million windfall from the Morrisons supermarket development at Broadmeadow, the Teignbridge council leader has assured the town.

Cllr Jeremy Christophers was responding to criticisms by Teignmouth councillor Terry Falcao that Teignmouth would be 'betrayed' if the cash was spent elsewhere in the district. He likened it to 'frittering away the family silver.'

Cllr Falcao raised it at the Teignbridge budget meeting last week, which approved the purchase of land at Bradley Lane, Newton Abbot, for commercial and housing regeneration, by borrowing £1.25 million.
