SIGNIFICANT progress continues to be made on the transformation of Newton Abbot’s Market Hall, Teignbridge District Council (TDC) has said.

Around 70 per cent of the new paving is now complete, with internal works too moving ahead at pace as the project nears its opening this year.

Inside the building, key structural upgrades have been carried out.

The new market floors have been fully installed, along with updated stall spaces.

One of the standout features now in place is the new staircase, pictured.

A spokesperson for TDC said: ‘These improvements are helping the historic venue evolve into a more contemporary, flexible environment while still respecting its heritage.

‘With construction progressing well, the project remains on track for a late‑spring opening.

‘We will share more details about what to expect and the plans for opening in the coming months’.
