THREE fire crews were despatched to tackle a kitchen blaze on the Old Totnes Road in Ashburton this morning (Friday).

Crews from the town were joined by ones from Bovey Tracey and Buckfastleigh to extinguish an offending flame-filled oven.

The alarm was raised at 8.10am.

Two sets of breathing gear were worn by firefighters who used a hosereel jet to deal with the drama.

A positive pressure fan was used to clear fumes from the property.

The cause of the fire was listed as accidental.
