THE RNLI lifeguards will be back on duty at local beaches from Saturday, July 7.

Tim Smart, RNLI lifeguard supervisor for the area, said: ‘We advise visitors coming to the area to always keep an eye on the flags.

‘Swimmers should always swim between the red and yellow flags, and you should never enter the water when the red flags are displayed. We advise kite surfers to always kite with another person if possible, but if not, take a means of calling for help. Equipment failure does happen, so please bear this in mind and be prepared.

‘We want visitors to enjoy their time at our beaches, but we advise them to check the tide times and weather conditions before arriving, and feel free to ask any of our lifeguards for advice.’

RNLI lifeguards patrol over 249 beaches around the UK and Channel Islands.

The local beaches they patrol are Teignmouth main, and Dawlish Warren.
