ONE of the highlights of the year in Chudleigh will be happening on Thursday, December 8, when we the town will be welcoming Father Christmas to its late night shopping event and the switching on of the Christmas lights.

Fore Street will be closed from 6pm to 8pm with diversions sign posted and helpful marshals will be on hand to advise motorists. The Parade along Fore Street will leave the church at 6pm and the Fore Street Lights will be switched on as the procession passes.

‘We are also expecting a surprise visit from a mystery pair of people at the Town Centre Lights Switch-on in the Square at 6.20 pm,’ says Alison Neely, of the Chudfest Christmas Lights Committee.

‘After this, Father Christmas will be in his grotto in the Youth Centre, there will be entertainment in the Town Square, the shops will be open and there will be lots of places to eat, drink and socialise.

The ever-popular Craft Fayre will be in the Town Hall and the Youth Centre from 5pm until 8pm.

‘Come and join us, it will be a truly an excellent evening.’
