PEOPLE who live, work or spend time on Dartmoor are being invited to help shape the future of the National Park as part of a review of its Local Plan.

The Dartmoor National Park Authority has launched the first stage of the review and is encouraging residents, businesses, farmers and visitors to share their views before the consultation closes on August 23.

The Local Plan provides the framework for planning decisions across the National Park, covering where new and affordable homes should be built, how nature and the landscape are protected, how businesses can grow, and how Dartmoor can respond to the challenges of climate change.

The authority stressed that the review is at an early stage and that no decisions have been made on specific development sites.

As part of the consultation, people are being asked for their views on planning policies affecting farming, including how they can support viable farm businesses while helping to deliver nature recovery and improved climate resilience.

Feedback is also being sought on whether existing housing policies meet the needs of Dartmoor's communities and what changes could help deliver more affordable and sustainable homes.
