OVER 100 beacons were lit throughout the South West tonight (Thursday) in honour of the Queen’s 90th birthday.
Newton Abbot had three beacons lit, but the highest beacon in Teignbridge had to be that of Haytor on Dartmoor.
Over 200 people turned up on a chilly and overcast evening to watch Maurice Retallick light the beacon and raise a glass to salute the Queen reaching 90 years of age.
