A ROUTINE walk turned into an emergency for Rosie, a spirited 3-year-old golden retriever, after she suffered a serious leg injury — but thanks to the care provided by a Newton Abbot vets, is now back on her paws and thriving.

During one of her usual outdoor adventures, Rosie sustained a deep laceration to her left front leg, likely caused by hidden barbed wire.

Her owners acted quickly, bringing her straight to Amity Veterinary Care in Brunel Road, where the team was ready to assess and treat the injury.

Despite the trauma, Rosie remained cheerful, her wagging tail a symbol of her resilience.

Upon arrival, the veterinary team carefully clipped the fur around the wound to evaluate the damage.

A small flap of compromised skin was removed to promote healthy healing, the wound was cleaned and sutured, and a protective dressing was applied to keep it safe from dirt and other pets.

Rosie was also prescribed antibiotics to prevent infection and pain relief medication to ensure her comfort during recovery.

Her wound was healing well with only minor signs of redness and weeping — both normal for her stage of recovery. Her stitches were removed without issue, and her guardians were reminded to complete her course of medication.

And just a few weeks on, Rosie is back to full health — exploring, playing, and spreading joy wherever she goes.

The team at Amity Veterinary Care expressed pride in Rosie’s recovery and gratitude to her family for their prompt action and attentive care.

‘Rosie's case is a great reminder of how important quick action and proper veterinary treatment are in emergencies like this’, a spokesperson for Amity Veterinary Care said.

‘We are thrilled to see her doing so well and wish her many more happy — and safe — adventures’, the spokesperson added.
