LANTERNS lit up the streets of Newton Abbot on Wednesday night (December 11) during the town’s run up to Christmas.

Around 200 children from all of the town’s eight primary schools - Bearnes, Wolborough, All Saints, Decoy, Bradley Barton, Haytor View, Highweek and St Joseph’s - took part in the annual lantern parade.

The procession began at Bearne’s Primary School and wound its way through the market stalls of the Christmas street fayre to St Leonard’s Clock Tower.

The theme this year was insects and lanterns included bees, caterpillars, ladybirds, dragonflies, and even a huge spider.
