A FLOOD alert is in place for the River Teign.
The Environment Agency has issued the alert of possible flooding for the rivers Teign, Bovey and Lemon and coastal streams from Babbacombe to Kenton
Rising river levels today may lead to flooding and is possible today and into tomorrow.
River levels have risen in response to recent rainfall and forecast levels may cause flooding to low lying land and roads close to the river.
A spokesman for EA said: ‘The main areas of concern are Newton Abbot, Kingsteignton, Teignmouth, Shaldon, Bovey Tracey, Kingskerswell, Dawlish and Dawlish Warren.
‘We expect the river to remain high throughout the night.
‘We are closely monitoring the situation.
‘Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.’
