YOUNG people in Newton Abbot are being invited to apply to become police cadets.

PCSO Vanessa Pike, along with the Newton Abbot Community Police Cadets, are looking for new members to join.

Youngsters aged between 13 and 18 who are looking for a new challenge and want to help in the community can apply to join.

They will be trained in the law and police procedures, learn about the specialist police unit and be taught essential first aid.

Once trained, cadets can get involved in a range of activities including test purchasing of alcohol and cigarettes, crime prevention, beach and graffiti cleaning and attend community or even royal events.

Application forms can be downloaded and, once completed, returned to Newton Abbot police station.
